Project "Sell This House" - Update

With 9 days left to our March 1st listing date goal, we're busily trying to finish up the house.  It's finally coming together.  Let me show you what we've done this past week.

Here are two pictures I took of the playroom right before we prepped it for painting.

It was a cluttered mess.

Jon and I spent hours painting moulding, doors, trim, spackling walls, painting walls.  We painted it the same "Balsam" as the living room but it looks more gray in the lower light.  I think it's very soothing.
We tried to declutter and rearrange to show just how large the room is.  It's 20x20 so it's a large room to begin with but now you can tell.

I still need to declutter that back left corner but I'll get to that today, hopefully.

I spent 4 hours shopping for final decorative touches Saturday night.  I don't like shopping and I even had to go to the, gulp, mall.  But, in the end all that shopping was worth it.  I found a ton of great things that I love and a lot of them were on sale.

Here's a random indoor gardening moment.   My poor "Wandering Jew" was looking a bit frumpy.  I hadn't been watering it lately and it had grown so long that the weight of the branches were weighing it down.  My mom suggested I cut off a lot of the length and root the cut off branches right in the soil at the top.  This type of plant roots very well if you put it right into soil.
So, here's the plant after the severe pruning.  I hope all the stems take root and it goes back to being a big, purple ball of a plant.

I finally drilled new holes in the armoire and Charlotte helped me put in the new hardware.

Mark came over to put the quarter round in the kitchen.

He showed the kids how the angles matched up.

I painted the doors and trim at the playroom entrance the other day.  I bought a new doormat.  Now the driveway needs to be pressure washed and it should look nice.  Do the planters look odd placed there?  The mat is placed near the door that you walk through but I wasn't sure about the planters.  Thoughts?

The new welcome mat for the front door.

The new entry rug.

The "before" of the mantel.

Almost finished.  It still needs something.  I'm thinking maybe a small plant or orchid on the left side?  Suggestions?
I love these vases I found this past weekend.  The one on the left is from Michael's and it was only $5 on clearance.  The other two are from Walmart for $4-$9 each.

Remember my $40 craigslist find?  Not Charlotte.... the armoire.

Here it is, finally done with it's facelift.  Chocolate brown paint and new hardware certainly make a big difference.  I actually love this cabinet now.

A little peek at the playroom before we started moving furniture around Sunday.

And here it is, almost finished.  I still need to declutter the book shelf, get a slipcover for the chair, and take our TV antenna down but it's coming together.

Though I miss our huge couch and the computer in the living room, I admit that this arrangement sure looks prettier.

I found these beautiful placemats at Williams-Sonoma on clearance and with an exchange I had, I bought all 4 for only $10.

And now for my new favorite rooms.  I can't believe their transformations.  I'll do proper before and afters once we've listed the house.

The hall bathroom was once covered in rubber ducks.  Now I'm hoping it's modern and sophisticated. The accessories are from Target.

The master bath was all but forgotten about before as far as decor.
These accessories were from Walmart.  I'm a big fan of their Better Homes and Gardens line.  I love our bathroom now.

So, we're in the home stretch.  I have a long list of the last minute things we need to do before listing the house but they're easy things now.   The real estate agent is coming tonight to start measuring and start the paperwork.  It's starting to feel real now and I'm so excited.  Soon we can really begin looking at houses and trying to find the right farm for us.

Holy transformations, Batman! The house looks great! The playroom looks HUGE now! I love all the accent pieces you bought! The mantel looks great. I love the bathrooms, too! It's hard to get used to the livingroom furniture, but I'm sure it makes the room look much prettier! I can't wait to see the pics for the listing. Who takes those?

Oh my gosh............it is totally amazing hon!! I love your decorating choices!! The bathrooms are fantastic!! You have a great eye hon and it looks hip, fresh, and like a winner on the market!!! I just LOVE it! I like the idea of an orchid on the left of the mantel, put the playroom door pots on the outside edge of each door. Mark loved how interested Evan was with the cuts of the corners. What an amazing transformation and so quickly with no real hitches. It has been a dream execution from day one and that is due to your hard work planning it out ahead of time. I am in awe! Considering that nearly all of your family has turned out to help your dream come true is the cherry on the top! What a great month and such a tremendous outcome! Way to go Becky! Love, Momma

Amazing. How did you refinish the cabinet- with a brush or spray paint? My refinishing projects have always turned out less than stellar. :)
