Because of our snow day on Friday and MLK Day, we've had a 4 day weekend. It was timed perfectly since we needed a big stretch of time to mark a lot of things off our to-do list. I'm thrilled with how much Jon and I got accomplished this weekend.
It sure makes painting a lot easier.
I love this color. I'm glad there's a lot left in the paint can because I know I'll be using it in our future house.
It makes our ordinary bathroom vanities look more expensive and certainly more up to date. I'll add brushed nickel knobs soon.
The kids having gotten really good at playing around the distruction of house renovation. They did their own house work by cleaning their rooms on Sunday.
I bought a cabinet from Craigslist for the corner of the kitchen. I'm not completely sure about it yet. I may move it around to another wall of the kitchen.
I painted our "new" craigslist armoire with the same brown of the bathroom cabinets. This the "before" picture, after Jon sanded.
I know it's hard to see in this picture but this is the color I painted our bedroom and studio. You can see the old, flat white on the bottom and the "Night Frost", grayish blue on top. It's very subtle but I think it'll work nicely to appeal to as many potential buyers as possible.
Jon painted our aging swing set on Sunday since it was warm enough. I picked out two shades of green and told him he could paint it however he wished.
I think he did a great job! I'm hoping the lighter green will blend in with the trees when they start to leaf out this spring. I painted the front panels of the dishwasher white. Figuring out how the panels came off was the hardest part. Spray painting them was easy.
I moved our bedroom curtains into the studio and pulled them back with tie backs I had in the living room.
I spray painted the tie backs white.
Of all the tools I use to paint a room, this edger is the most important. I can't imagine edging with a brush.
You just line it up with the trim or ceiling and roll it along. Very easy and much faster then doing it with a brush.
Our bathtub knob broke on Sunday. Guess who fixed it. Jon! He took the old one apart, figured out the problem, went to Lowes to buy a replacement knob and put the whole thing back together. He even saved part of the old knob to fix the bathroom sink fixture. Jon may not have considered himself handy around the house a few weeks ago but he's sure building up his list of skills now.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to have one of my friends come over and help me paint the living room. Painting the living room is such a huge job and I was really dreading it but being able to chat the time away with Jess while we painted actually made it fun. I can't thank her enough.
It's a very "Martha Stewart" green-gray that changes a little depending on the light.
The fireplace accent wall is painted Olympic "Birch Forest". I'm going to paint the kitchen that same color. I was glad Jess convinced me to go ahead and paint the accent wall now instead of waiting until I painted the kitchen.
It's a huge relief to have this big room marked off my list except for trim touch up and furniture placement.
Jon and I were both exhausted by the end of the weekend but we couldn't be happier with the progress we've made. Now to make up the to-do list for this upcoming weekend.....
