After 2 snowy winters, this unusually warm winter has been a bit of a bummer. Don't get me wrong, warm sunny days are great but we missed the excitement of a North Carolina snow. It's special to get snow here since we don't expect it very often. It also doesn't last very long.

Yesterday afternoon it started to snow. It also happened to be the day that our first daffodil bloomed. We don't usually have daffodils in February but that's the kind of winter it's been.

Last night I made soup and baguettes since that's what you have to do when it snows. Cozy food is a must.

This morning we woke up to a white world. We got almost 2" of snow. The high is going to be in the upper 40's today so this snow will be gone before long.

We have a morning of snow play, hot cocoa, and soggy mittens ahead of us. You have to get an early start in North Carolina since the snow starts to melt as soon as the sun hits it.
I'm not sure this little daffodil will make it through it's freeze but it is such a pretty sign that spring is almost here. I'm so happy that winter showed itself once before spring is here to stay.
