Welcome to the city of Pittsburgh! Home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates!
This is Jon. I'm writing the text for Becky's pictures today. I was so excited to take the kids to their first Major League game!
This burger made us hungry! It was located right outside of the parking garage where we parked.
Evan and I walking down the street towards the park.
Here's the whole family with my parents with PNC Park in the background.
Here we are inside the ballpark to watch the Pirate battle the Boston Red Sox!
Here's Charlotte with the Pittsbugh skyline in the background. PNC park is one of the most beautiful parks in all of baseball.
Charlotte give me my hat back!
No matter how the game is going, it's still a great time at PNC park.
Can you tell I was happy? The day went way too fast. I wanted to stay overnight and catch Sunday's game.
I am a die hard Pirates fan. I have to be. The Pirates haven't had a winning season in 18 years. This is the first year in a long long long long long time they've showed promise. Currently they are a game and a half out of first place!
Now Evan stole Grandpa's hat. The kids had such a great time.
Um Evan, the game is the other way. He was really starting to show signs of sleep deprivation.
Evan starts to drift off...
The game was a little stale with the Red Sox leading 2-0. Then, in the forth inning Lyle Overbay crushed a 3- run homerun and the Pirates took the lead! The place was rockin'! The night we went to the game was a record high attendance ever for PNC Park.
Evan fell asleep for a few minutes but then woke up for the rest of the game and the fireworks.
It was an exciting ending. The Pirates were one out away from winning. A Red Sox player hit a double off the right field wall. The fireworks controller thought the Right fielder caught the final out of the game and set off the victory fireworks early. However we'd have to wait for one more out until the Jolly Rodger was lifted in Center Field! Pirates 6 Red Sox 4!
In order to get to PNC park you have to cross the Roberto Clemente Bridge. Roberto Clemente was a Pirate back in the 70's. He was a great humanitarian whose life was cut tragically short.
This was the view from our seats. Click on the picture to enlarge it.

That looks like it was a fun night! The park is beautiful, and the scenery around it (the city) was so pretty too. Did you eat some peanuts and Crackerjack?
Makes me want to go see a Mariners game (the closest team to us!)
