My New Favorite Toy

video

My mom recently gave me her apple peeler/slicer/corer. With all of those apples I have to make into applesauce, her gift came at the right time!

It sounds like Evan is saying "poo-poo" but that's how he says "apple". Hopefully that one will become more clear in the coming months. :)

That's going to save you so much time and hand-cramping!

My mother gave me her apple/corer/peeler. I couldn't get it to work. The apples just kept sliding right off. I have up and sold it at a garage sale when my mother admitted she never even used it and didn't know what I was doing wrong.

Katie, I'm most excited about the no-hand cramping! Last year my hand would cramp into this weird club like thing from holding the peeler so long.

Mary, that's a shame that yours didnt work. Sometimes the apples spiral off the core as it's peeling it. I hold my other hand under the apple as it's peeling it to catch any apple bits that fall off while it's going through. I have the best luck with apples that are really firm. Some of the softer ones had more issues going through.

In thought, I miss the old days of getting a couple of bushels of apples and making sauce but it's a lot of work and you two girls actually end up with a great finished product that you can store. I often didn't finish what I started. I always loved the smell in the house while using that peeler! I am so tickled that both you and Katie are such excellent nest builders and have such an appreciation for the real and simple things in life. Truly life's treasures. Love you, Momma

It is a lot of work, Momma. I keep reminding myself that there is still a bushel of apples in the extra fridge waiting for me.. but then Flipping Out or Top Chef is on. A girl has her priorities. LOL
Like Katie said though, you're the one who taught us how to do all these cool things :)
